Apartments Once Called 'Yuppie Boxes' Take Shape in Bed-Stuy

A new rental building at 785 Dekalb Avenue in Bed-Stuy—infamously dubbed "Yuppie Boxes" by one local architecture critic—is almost finished, with YIMBY grabbing a few pics of the nearly complete building.

The building will contain 70 units spread across 52,000 square feet of residential space. It will also have parking space for 35 cars, 36 bikes, and a roof deck. Previous renderings heralded the coming of Brooklyn's ugliest building, but the building currently taking shape matches newer renderings, despite some superficial similarities to the originals. Both versions appear to have a setback in the middle, a rounded atrium, and angled balconies.

Sam Klein of SSJ Realty LLC is the developer, with designs handled by Durukan Designs.
