NYC's First Micro-Unit Building Unveils Its Brick Facade

New, 9 comments

Construction is getting closer to being completed at Carmel Place in Kips Bay, the city's first entirely micro-unit building. Field Condition recently stopped by the site to check out the exterior work, which is more visible now that the scaffolding that surrounded the building is down. The structure's brick facade, which is patterned in shades of gray, helps it stand out amid the older apartment buildings that surround it. (It's also a good deal smaller than the surrounding buildings, which makes sense given the size of its apartments—they range in size from 260 to 260 square feet). Apartments are leasing right now, with move-ins expected sometime this year.
