A nine-story building is set to rise on the site of a former auto repair shop in Long Island City, The Court Square Blog reports. Little is known about the development at this stage except that it will feature 32 apartments when finished, according to the building permits.
Flushing-based design firm, MY Architect PC, which has designed several residential buildings in the borough, particularly Long Island City, filed the permit for the project. The building is being developed by the Ampiera Group.
Demolition work on the auto repair building started early last year, was temporarily halted in the summer, but resumed again and was completed in November. The new building, located at 42-50 27th Street, will comprise just under 25,000 square feet of space.
