Welcome back to The Six Digit Club, in which we take a look at a newish-to-market listing priced under $1 million, because nice things sometimes come in small packages. Send nominations to the tipline.
The modern finishings in this penthouse might not quite evoke images typical of the Upper East Side, but at $699,000 it seems like quite a bargain for a penthouse in that neighborhood. The one-bedroom duplex boasts a 14 foot ceiling in the tallest part of the apartment, a master bedroom with a private balcony, and Italian wood cabinetry in the kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances. The under 600 square feet of space on offer is pretty tiny for a penthouse, but the price per square foot is still $400 below the neighborhood average - $1,232 per square foot compared to $1,774, according to StreetEasy. Do be warned however, the penthouse is located at The Duplex, a condo conversion that experienced several delays and was mired in lawsuits at one point. But six years have passed on that scandal, and the 24-hour doorman and concierge service, a landscaped garden, and a resident's lounge might all make up for it.
