Brooklyn Bridge Park’s much-contested hotel will open in February

It’s part of the overall Pierhouse development that’s been hit by a barrage of lawsuits from the start

Another part of the controversial Pierhouse condo development at Brooklyn Bridge Park is nearing completion. The hotel, which is known as 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, will open its doors in February next year, the Brooklyn Paper reports. The hotel will start taking reservations starting February 15, according to its website.

The hotel will feature a total of 194 rooms, and come with amenities like a fitness center, a spa, a 50-seat screening room, and a rooftop bar. Seamus Mullen of Tertulia fame will have a Spanish food-inspired restaurant at the hotel. There are also plans for what’s known as the Lobby Farmstand, a daily market stocked with produce from local farmers.

Prices at the hotel start from $394 per night for a room with a king size bed and go up to $825 per night for a one-bedroom suite that offers views of the Manhattan skyline, as per the Brooklyn Paper. Prices for the presidential-style suite, Riverhouse as they are known at this hotel, have yet to be released.

While the overall hotel will open in February, the 1 Hotels group is opening up the event space there as early as this Thanksgiving. The larger Pierhouse development also includes 106 condos that are spread out over two buildings at 90 Furman Street, and 130 Furman Street. Over 80 percent of the homes here have sold out, and the first set of residents have already moved into the condo section. Once the hotel is open, residents here will also have access to the amenities at the adjacent hotel.

The development has been hit by one lawsuit after the next right from the start primarily to protect the views of Brooklyn Bridge and the Brooklyn Heights promenade. The most recent effort on part of the community group, Save the View Now, was tossed out by a Brooklyn Judge.
