Affordable units at Brooklyn's tallest building up for grabs from $833/month

It won’t hold the tallest building in the borough record that much longer though

Brooklyn’s tallest building (for now) is offering up 150 affordable units starting Friday with rents on the cheapest units beginning at $833 per month, DNAinfo reports. The rental building, located at 333 Schermerhorn Street in Downtown Brooklyn, and known as The Hub, features a total of 750 apartments. Pricing on the market rate apartments hasn’t yet been released but the affordable units will range from $833 per month to $1,082 per month.

There are 46 studios available at $833/month for incomes ranging from $29,898 - $38,100, 85 one-bedrooms at $895/month for incomes ranging from $32,058 - $43,500, and 19 two-bedrooms at $1,082/month for incomes going from $38,503 - $54,360.

Plans for The Hub also call for 32,000-square-feet of retail. Amenities in this Dattner Architects-designed building include a swimming pool, a gym, a common terrace area, and a children’s playroom.

When the Douglas Steiner-developed building topped out last December at 610 feet, it became the tallest building in the borough. Of course, it’s not going to hold on to that record for long. Both City Point Tower 3, and Brooklyn’s first supertall at 9 Dekalb Avenue will eventually surpass it in 2019.

The deadline to apply for the affordable units is December 15, 2016.
