Welcome back to The Six Digit Club, in which we take a look at a newish-to-market listing priced under $1 million, because nice things sometimes come in small packages. Send nominations to the tipline.
Situated on the fourth floor of a brownstone co-op, this apartment on 84 Charles Street offers a mix of pre-war charm, modern upgrades, and the pride of an address in the heart of the West Village—all for under seven figures. (Precisely, it’s $839,000.)
The brokerbabble touts Charles Street as “the prettiest block” in the West Village, which is a distinction that most residents of the area likely ascribe to their particular corner of the neighborhood. Still, the tree-lined street flaunts rows of beautiful brownstones, including this particular building, built in 1900. The one bedroom, one bathroom apartment boasts a renovated kitchen with new appliances, including a dishwasher, as well as a renovated bathroom with a marble-topped sink.
Other highlights include high ceilings, hardwood floors, exposed brick (painted an austere white) and French doors that connect the living room and bedroom. The storage space is also considerable, with four closets, plus a washer and dryer unit in the apartment. The maintenance is $751 a month, and the co-op allows for pets, pied-à-terres, and “parents co-purchasing,” not unlike yesterday’s Upper West Side studio which hinted more subtly at “guarantors.” Let’s hope Mom and Dad are feeling generous.
