Construction is wrapping at Williamsburg’s block-large Oosten condo, and while the enormous development still isn’t quite move-in ready, new photos of the Piet Boon-designed development from Field Condition show that it’s getting close.
The waterfront condos are meant to pay “homage to [Boon’s] Dutch heritage with clean, streamlined elements that get more beautiful over time,” the listings explain, noting that the building’s exterior materials—glass, metal, and brick—have been chosen as a nod to the “area’s rich building heritage.”
Spanning the entire block between South 8th and 9th streets on Kent Avenue, the building is home to 216 condos, a mix of duplexes, lofts, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, townhouses, and duplex penthouses, all surrounding a 13,860-square-foot interior courtyard.
Though layouts and sizes vary throughout the building, the condos themselves are “quintessentially Dutch,” offering “a perfect mix of practicality, humanity, and humor.” The interiors are not yet finished, but Field Condition’s new photos of the apartments suggest this means sleek bathrooms and great light.
Unsurprisingly, all this comes with a steep price tag—remember, Oosten is the condo that offers all-expenses paid jaunts to Amsterdam, so that buyers of the fanciest apartments could sit down with Boon IRL. It appears to have worked: last year, one of the penthouses broke the record for priciest pad in Williamsburg.
Though the majority of the apartments are already sold or in-contract, there are still plenty of units available, including a $6.42 million penthouse. The more modest remaining one-bedrooms start at $1.135 million.
