The residential towers right next to Jamaica’s AirTrain terminal will bring 669 apartments to the neighborhood

New renderings have emerged for the massive AirTrain station-hugging residential development in Jamaica, Queens, a tip from Buzz Buzz Home has revealed. The project is being built at the intersection of Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue and sits directly north of the AirTrain Terminal in the neighborhood. The FXFOWLE-designed building will bring a total of 669 apartments to the neighborhood, which is up from the previously reported 580 apartments.

Plans so far call for a 14-story and a 26-story structure to rise on the property, and apartments here will be offered at a range of incomes. The taller tower’s facade will feature "light-colored engineered cement panels," and the shorter one’s facade will be made up of "variegated brick and strip windows," as per the description on the architecture firm’s page. There are also plans for retail and a community facility.

The BRP Companies-developed towers will rise on a three-story podium. That will include the planned 35,000 square feet of retail at the project. From what’s known so far, The Crossing at Jamaica Station, as the project is known, will also come with 187 parking spaces and a green roof.

Being built at an estimated cost of $300 million, the project has been previously billed as one of the largest investments in the area in decades. Construction is expected to get underway early next year with an anticipated completion in 2019.
