Robert A.M. Stern's lavish 20 East End Avenue will welcome its first residents

The Upper East Side building, inspired by pre-war co-ops, has commenced closings

Nearly two years after sales launched, the first residents at Robert A.M. Stern’s 20 East End Avenue may be getting ready to move into their extremely fancy apartments. A spokesperson confirms that closings have begun at the luxury building, located on the corner of East 80th Street and East End Avenue.

Inspired by the “the heritage of distinguished, pre-war architecture” (i.e. the grand buildings designed by the likes of Emery Roth and Rosario Candela), the tower has 41 apartments with plenty of luxurious features, all of which were custom designed by Stern: chef’s kitchens, high ceilings, the usual slate of high-end finishes (white oak flooring, custom millwork cabinetry, granite countertops, etc.), and more.

When residents move in, they’ll also have access to the development’s swanky amenities, including a game room, wine cellar (and private wine rooms available to purchase, because why not), billiards room (yes, separate from the game room), and an “extremely rare” gated porte-cochère and private motor court.

And that’s just for the development’s less fancy apartments—there are also a few penthouses that are due to hit the market next year that’ll boast even more amenities, including one with a 4,000-square-foot outdoor terrace. The rarefied views those pricey pads will have may be off-limits to most New Yorkers, but new photos taken from the 18th-floor penthouse offer a glimpse of what it’d be like.
