Betsey Johnson unloads her tame Upper East Side apartment

The quirky designer may take a small loss on the East 85th Street condo

Legendary fashion designer Betsey Johnson finally managed to part ways with her Upper East Side one-bedroom, though potentially at a bit of a loss. According to the Observer, Johnson’s onetime crash pad has entered into contract for its most recent asking price of $1.795 million, which is $55,000 less than its original purchase price.

Johnson initially sought $2.25 million for the 850-square-foot apartment when it was first listed in May. After failing to garner interest at that asking price, the apartment got a price chop down to its most recent ask.

The cozy apartment isn’t nearly as over-the-top as some of her previous homes; in fact, this one is relatively subdued, with just a few notes of her signature hot pink. Some areas are slightly dated but the 300-square-foot terrace is lovely and offers a partial view of Central Park.
