New Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons take a flight test at Citi Field

Five new balloons went for a test run on Saturday afternoon

It’s hard to remember that Thanksgiving is a mere three weeks away, with all the hoopla surrounding the impending Presidential election and the unseasonably warm weather, but alas, a reminder came as Citi Field hosted a test-fly for five new balloons set to take flight at this year’s 90th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

According to the New York Post, hundreds of volunteers flooded Citi Field’s parking lot as they prepped the balloons for their big debut. This year, the Charlie Brown balloon will make his return after a four-year hiatus, joined by Greg Heffley from the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series, critters from Dreamworks childrens flick “Trolls,” and an exact replica of the original 1927 Felix the Cat balloon which was the first to ever fly in a Macy’s parade.

Nearly 30 balloons will fly in this year’s parade with 11 novelty balloons and returning favorites like Spongebob, the Macy’s star, Thomas the Tank engine, and more.
