First things first: this sprawling house is in Staten Island. But aside from it’s far-out location, there aren’t too many things to dislike about the $1.5 million “colonial masterpiece,” as the brokerbabble calls it.
The regal brick facade, massive columns, bountiful windows, and landscaped walkway set the tone for what’s inside the grand home. Located in Todt Hill, huge ceilings and a wooden staircase leading to the second level greet you before leading to the formal living room large enough to accommodate a piano and a set of wood and glass French doors that invites you into the equally spacious family room. The marble wood-burning fireplace sits at the center of attention within the family room. A massive eat-in kitchen and formal dining room with solarium also occupy the first floor.
There are a total of six large bedrooms and four bathrooms spread throughout the home and no shortage of closet space. The master bedroom alone has four (!) walk-in closets, in addition to an en-suite bathroom decked out with a jacuzzi tub, partially mirrored ceiling, and skylight (one of four within the home).
Some other things that this home delivers for your money include a finished basement, two-car garage, a “pristinely manicured” backyard, an unfinished attic, and central air conditioning/heat. To be honest, the house could use a designer’s touch, in terms of decor, but there’s endless opportunity for that. If you’re a nature lover, it’s also quite nice that Reed's Basket Willow Swamp Park, a protected state sanctuary, is literally across the street.
