Amy Schumer sells charming Upper West Side apartment at a loss

Schumer's penthouse sold for less than what she paid for it

UPDATE: It took a while for Amy Schumer to unload her Upper West Side penthouse but the award-winning actress and comedian finally got it done, albeit for a bit less than the original $2.07 million asking price. According to the New York Post, Schumer sold the apartment to a financier for $1.62 million, which is $70,000 less than what she purchased it for in 2014. No one likes to lose money but given that Schumer has gone on to purchase a $12 million duplex, she's probably not sweating it.

After more than a year, Amy Schumer has finally gotten rid of her Upper West Side penthouse apartment. The buyer, reports the New York Post, remains a mystery, as does as the final sales price, but it went into contract with an asking price of $1.625 million.

Schumer purchased the 850-square-foot pad back in 2014 for $1.695 million. It takes up the top floor of a 20-foot-wide, turn-of-the-20th-century brownstone a half block west of the American Museum of Natural History. Charming interior details include two wood-burning fireplaces surrounded by carved mantles, built-in bookshelves, a master bathroom with a claw-foot tub, several skylights, and an interior staircase that leads to a landscaped roof terrace.

It was listed in November of 2015 for $2.075 million with Compass, but failed to find a buyer. It reappeared this September with a new broker, fresh photos, and an ask of $1.625 million. One drawback of the otherwise lovely apartment is that it’s a fourth-floor walkup.

The Trainwreck actress, meanwhile, may have shelled out $12.147 million on a 4,500-square-foot, glass-walled duplex penthouse atop a pre-war building, also on the Upper West Side.
