Welcome back to The Six Digit Club, in which we take a look at a newish-to-market listing priced under $1 million, because nice things sometimes come in small packages. Send nominations to the tipline.
Though this cheery one-bedroom is a triplex (with just one bathroom—and it’s not near the bedroom), the layout is relatively sensible: the main level houses an open(ish) kitchen, dining area, and bathroom; the lower mezzanine has the living space and atrium overlooking 87th Street; and the upper mezzanine hosts the “heavenly” bedroom with a wall of windows. (For better or worse, the heavenly bedroom also looks out over the main floor.)
While we’re on the subject of the main floor: it’s walnut, the kitchen cabinetry is maple, the kitchen countertops are limestone, and the bathroom is decked out with an imported vintage Italian vanity and Herbeau fixtures, giving it a somewhat dated effect.
Currently listed at $850,000, the condo has central air, a shared rooftop garden, and excellent access to public transit—it’s less than a block from the forthcoming Second Avenue subway. Though the building is pet friendly, we can only assume the charming white fluffball pictured in the listing is not included.
