Robert A.M. Stern's 220 Central Park South Is On the Rise

New, 10 comments

Construction began last year on Robert A.M. Stern's massive Central Park South tower, and the project is starting to show some real progress. A new batch of photos from NY Consstruction Photo show that the structure has risen above ground, with the tower's shape becoming visible—as the photo above shows, you can even see the construction happening from within Central Park. True to form with Stern, the building will be clad in limestone, and will feature such bonkers amenities as private pools, a porte-cochere, and multiple lobbies. But all of that won't come cheap: the skyscraper is reportedly costing developer Vornado as much as $5,000 per square foot to build.
