More than a year after Extell initially filed plans for a development at 92nd Street and Second Avenue, it looks like work on the building may begin. A tipster passed along these images from the construction site, which not only show a very preliminary design for the building, but also give a clue to its anticipated completion date: summer of 2017. Additionally, the Department of Buildings recently approved a permit application for foundation work, clearing the way for Extell to begin construction on the site.
Last February, DNAInfo reported that the development would have two smaller buildings, with 25 affordable apartments divided between them. According to Extell, "the units would be dedicated to households making a maximum of $47,000 for a single person or $67,000," and the building would be split between two- and three-bedroom units. The structure pictured on the construction site's signage seems to line up with the plans on file: There's a larger, 11-story building, and a smaller, six-story one behind it (though the DOB filings are only for the taller of the two structures). Curtis + Ginsberg is currently listed as the architect.
