Austrian Princess Sells Lenox Hill Co-op for $2.65M

An Austrian princess has unloaded her UES co-op after a series of pricechops

After almost a year on the market, Austrian royalty Alexandra Schoenburg-Hartenstein has sold off her 14 East 68th Street co-op, which occupies the entire third floor of the six-story limestone townhouse. According to the Observer, she purchased it in 2012 for $2.3 million

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment was listed for $3.2 million in early 2015. Although it boasts a wood-burning fireplace, moldings galore and 10-foot ceilings, buyers weren't biting. Streeteasy shows a series of price cuts every few months throughout the year until the price hit $2.7 million. (Perhaps partly due to the building's lack of doorman or concierge?) It entered contract last November and now belongs to Kevin Matuszak, who ultimately paid $2.65 million.

Although his name wasn't on the deed, the princess is married to the Greek shipping heir-turned-journalist Taki Theodoracopulos. The couple is not without a New York home after the sale. Schoenburg-Hartenstein held onto her real estate at a much more prestigious Upper East Side address, 720 Park Avenue, where she paid $3.85 million for a maisonette co-op last summer.
