Church-Replacing East Village Luxury Condos Are On the Rise

The six-story condo, which will have 81 units, is already close to reaching its full height

It's only been a month since the first renderings for Doug Steiner's East 12th Street condos were revealed, but the building itself is already well on its way. EV Grieve has some photos from the construction site, which shows that the building is already close to reaching its full, six-story height.

The building is replacing the former Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, which was demolished after Steiner purchased the building in 2012. When completed, the residential development will have 82 one- to four-bedroom condos, along with some penthouse apartments; the cheapest ones will start at $1.1 million.
