Who doesn't love seeing footage from the 1939 World's Fair? The mammoth event, which took place in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park (brand new at the time), was created with the express purpose of looking toward the future. But a short film by director Amanda Murray looks to the past (h/t Gothamist), with lots of lovely rare color footage showing what the "Dawn of New Day" (the fair's tagline) looked like in 1939. Murray also interviewed folks who attended the fair, and their memories of the event will make you wish you could time-travel back to see it for yourself.
