These 5 Great Bronx Dwellings Are Asking Less Than $400,000

From penthouses to townhouses with parking, here's what $400,000 buys in The Bronx

Welcome to a semi-regular feature, Price Points, in which we pick a relatively low asking price and a type of apartment, then scour StreetEasy to find the best available options around the city. Today's task: Bronx dwellings asking less than $400,000.

This week we've seen what $1,900 rents in the Bronx, rounded up the most expensive houses for sale in the borough, and heard the in's and out's of a few of its most beloved neighborhoods (as well as a lot of other Bronx-centric things.) Now, for those looking to buy, here's a round-up of five great places in the borough that are up for grabs for a (relative) bargain.

↑ Views come at a premium in the city's more southern boroughs, but at 5700 Arlington Avenue in Riverdale, a two-bedroom co-op with views of the Hudson River from every room is asking $379,000. By comparison, that gets a studio in Astoria or a closet in Park Slope.

↑ In University Heights, a 17th-floor co-op with an updated kitchen and at least one very European looking bathroom is on the market for $349,000. The apartment has four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and an industrial styled kitchen that sadly goes unpictured. [StreetEasy]

↑ A top-floor co-op in Spuyten Duyvil is looking for $285,000. The most notable thing about the apartment is its updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances and stone countertops. It has two bedrooms—the listing says it's a true junior 4—and a windowed bathroom.

↑ Riverdale housing stock gets criticized for being far from the subway, but this one-bedroom, one-bathroom co-op at 3840 Greystone Avenue is a breezy 8-minute walk from the 1 at 238th Street. The apartment's kitchen was recently renovated with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, and its bathroom got a makeover as well. It's also chock-full of closet space. It's asking $250,000. [StreetEasy]

↑ First things first, the townhouse at 4150 Ely Avenue in Wakefield has an attached garage. It's also recently undergone a top-to-bottom renovation that brought it a new kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and custom cabinetry. The house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and is asking $399,777.
