A mixed-use condo building is planned at the site of a three-story commercial building on the Upper West Side. Alchemy Properties and the Carlyle Group have filed plans for an 18-story, 32-unit structure at 2251 Broadway, at the corner of West 81st Street, The Real Deal reported. In addition to the residential units, 11,587 square feet of retail is planned.
The pair picked up the site, which occupies 2251-2259 Broadway (including 2255 Broadway) and is also known as 250-256 West 81st Street, for $51 million in February. Demolition permits have not yet been filed. As for the new building, it will be designed by Goldstein, Hill & West and will have two units third floor, three each on floors four through six, two each on floors seven through 17, and one unit occupying the 18th floor.
Amenities planned include 39 bicycle parking spots and a rooftop terrace. Alchemy has recently been making news for its conversion of the upper floors of the Woolworth Building, quite a bit down Broadway.
