Currently, the northernmost Citi Bike stations are at Carl Schurz Park on the East Side and Central Park West and West 85th Street on the West Side. That’s about to change. The bike sharing program will expand to 130th Street, across Manhattan, according to StreetsBlog NYC. That should happen by the end of 2017. While that, on its face, is great news, the blog also reports that stations in those neighborhoods will be farther apart than those below 59th Street.
Draft plans show 30 station sites in Community Board 11 (East Harlem), 17 sites in Community Board 10 (Central Harlem), and 13 sites in Community Board 11 (the West Side). Future expansion plans for Citi Bike include northward in Queens and south in Brooklyn. The service logged over 10 million rides in 2015.
