The condo-fication of the East Village has been happening for some time, but now developers are making the inevitable push east, bringing luxury apartments (and prices) to the part of the neighborhood once known as Alphabet City. One of those projects is Steiner NYC's first Manhattan development, Steiner East Village, currently in the works on the former site of the Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. The area has a personal connection for developer Doug Steiner (as in the film studio in Brooklyn); he lived there for nearly a decade, according to a piece in The New York Times, and still finds the area "authentic and intriguing and eclectic." (Okay!)

The condos at Steiner East Village are similarly priced to those at 100 Avenue A, the neighborhood's other brand new, schmancy condo development. Prices begin at $1.1 million for a one-bedroom, and they continue up from there, with a four-bedroom penthouse asking $11.25 million. The building is also chock-full of amenities (of course), including a 50-foot indoor pool, plenty of common spaces (including a library, terraces, and a playroom), and an on-site gym.
