Lenny Kravitz is known for a good many things, among them singing that song in every late aughts banking commercial, playing the beloved stylist to Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games movies, and jamming so hard he split his pants. But the rock n' roll icon has also been quietly building up his chops as the head of Kravitz Design, an interior design firm that was just tapped for a major new residential building in NYC.
The announcement of Kravitz as lead designer of the project comes with many a new detail about the development, 75 Kenmare, including the launch of its teaser site. Currently the site of a parking garage, the lot is poised to give way to 35-unit condo building designed by Andre Kikoski Architect.
"My vision for 75 Kenmare centers on a layered environment, drawing inspiration from the eccentric Downtown vibe while integrating elegant materials, such as unique natural stones, bonded metal and aged oak," Kravitz said in a statement. Condos in 75 Kenmare will range from one- to four-bedrooms and ask from $1.7 million to over $12 million. Construction is expected to begin this month.
The condo is being developed by DHA Capital, who drummed up some kind of enthusiasm over the development after letting Kanye West throw a fashion week party for his zine in the garage's empty shell in February.
