Sheepshead Bay's 28-Story Tower Prepares to Rise

The mixed-use building will tower 321 feet over South Brooklyn

Those living in a pretty low-rise south Brooklyn neighborhood will soon be looking to the sky. Foundation work is nearly done at the 28-story, 321-foot tower under construction at 1501 Voorhies Avenue, Sheepshead Bites reported. A spokesperson for co-developer AvalonBay told the publication that above-ground work should begin later this season. Co-developed by Muss Development and designed by Perkins Eastman, the 236-unit building will have both rental apartments and condominiums, reportedly starting at $700,000. [UPDATE: A rep for Muss Development says that pricing for the building has yet to be revealed, so that $700,000 figure is speculative.]

There is also 13,530 square feet of commercial space listed on the new building permit. Amenities include 124 automobile parking spaces, room for 118 bicycles, storage for floodgates, a dog run, and a pool somewhere on site. Tenants are expected to move in in 2017, with construction wrapping up in 2018, per SB.
