Greenpointers, brace yourselves: The record-breaking luxury condo is making its way to you. Sales hadn't even officially launched at the Gibraltar, a boxy building at West and Huron Streets, before the development garnered the honor of having the neighborhood's priciest condo, which sold for $2.1 million. Now, sales have officially launched for the remainder of its units (about half have already sold), with prices starting at $800,000 and going up from there.
As for the building and units, the theme here is sustainability: many of the materials used (insulation, windows, flooring, etc.) are eco-friendly. The building is also touting the fact that the ground floor is designed with flood-proof construction in mind, since it's located within a flood zone. Each apartment has its own outdoor space (the views of Manhattan are a selling point), and other amenities include on-site parking and a large outdoor common space. Oh, and there's this: "And as a nod to the neighborhood’s industrial past, the building lobby will be finished in loft-like luxurious finishes."
