When Tamara Mellon first listed her palatial duplex atop the Upper East Side's Carhart Mansion, real estate onlookers were agog at the Jimmy Choo co-founder's glorious shoe closet. While the shoe closet is still a source of envy, attention has now shifted to the penthouse's ever-decreasing ask. Mellon has relisted the apartment for $27 million, a $7 million reduction from its ask when it first appeared on the market in July 2014 for $34 million. Prior to Mellon, the 7,000-square-foot penthouse was owned by Seagram heir Charles Bronfman Jr., father to fitness enthusiast/DJ/It girl Hannah Bronfman.
The condo at 3 East 95th Street comes with five bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms, the aforementioned 13-by-23-foot walk-in closet, and 5,000-square-feet of terraces. Mellon has expressed to the Times that she's looking to sell the penthouse to experience "more of a downtown vibe." The penthouse was most recently listed for $29.5 million in February of 2015.
