See the Progress on the Former 5Pointz Site, Soon to Be Huge Towers

New, 7 comments

Work continues at the former site of the legendary graffiti mecca

Nearly two years after demolition began on 5Pointz, the much-missed Long Island City graffiti mecca, construction on the bland towers that will replace it is well underway. Curbed was recently able to get a peek at the site, which is currently swarming with workers getting the foundation in place before those towers can rise. Some of the structural elements, including rebar that will eventually support elevator banks, is already in place.

The site will eventually be home to two enormous towers by Jerry Wolkoff's G&M Realty, which will rise 48 stories above the neighborhood when completed. It's part of a spate of development along Jackson Avenue, which includes the ODA New York-designed rental at 2222 Jackson Avenue, and Tishman Speyer's huge three-tower development.
