The four-story building will feature 300,000 square feet of retail

The steel structure for the Howard Hughes Corporation-developed Pier 17 has topped out, new photos by Field Condition reveal. The 300,000 square-foot retail space in the South Street Seaport area is being designed by SHoP Architects, and construction is expected to wrap up sometime next year. So far, celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten along with his partner Phil Suarez have signed up for a 10,000 square-foot space at Pier 17, which will be home to an ABC Kitchen-style restaurant. Other tenants for the retail space are yet to be revealed. Vongerichten is also planning a 40,000 square-foot fish market at the soon to be redeveloped Tin Building next door.
