J. Crew CEO Mickey Drexler sure likes his fancy Tribeca homes. The fashion insider owns not one, but two expansive pads in the neighborhood, both of which have interiors by acclaimed designer Thierry Despont.
But perhaps the neighborhood is starting to lose its appeal: Drexler listed one of the units, a 6,226-square-foot Franklin Street apartment, back in 2015 (and it recently for a price chop); now, his other pad, a 9,000-square-foot townhouse on Greenwich Street, has hit the market asking $30 million. According to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the sale, Drexler is selling the pads because he "primarily lives in the Upper East Side" (or so sayeth the Core broker working on the sale).
And unlike the quirky home on Franklin Street, the Tribeca townhouse has a more toned-down vibe. Despont transformed what was once a warehouse into a single-family home, and the revamp includes some industrial characteristics (like the elevator) balanced against sleek, modern finishes. But is it worth $30 million? You be the judge.
