Thor Equities is behind the major purchase

Developer Joseph Sitt has purchased 71 sponsor units in famed Upper West Side building, The Apthorp. Sitt's company, Thor Equities, dished out $120 million for the apartments, which translates to $810 per square foot. Buyers of individual units in the 161-unit building don't get off so easy—the average price per square foot for sold apartments in the full-block building at 390 West End Avenue is $2,710, according to StreetEasy.

The 1908-built building was purchased last in 2007 for $426 million, the Post reports (h/t Crain's).
