Construction on LaGuardia’s $4B Overhaul Will Officially Begin Today

New, 2 comments

Includes work on an AirTrain, and a new terminal for speedier connectivity.

UPDATE: An earlier version of this article misstated that the ground breaking ceremony only pertained to the AirTrain. The ceremony today was for the project in its entirety. Curbed regrets the error.

Vice President Joe Biden and Governor Andrew Cuomo will break ground on the long-awaited LaGuardia AirTrain project this afternoon, NY1 reports. Once up and running, this 1.5 mile long route, that will run along the Grand Central Parkway, will connect to the 7 Train, and Long Island Railroad at Willets Point.

The AirTrain is part of the $4 billion overhaul of LaGuardia Airport that is now getting underway and will lead to the creation of a new terminal that will reduce delays and allow better circulation for passengers and flights connecting through the airport.
