Plans for Wegmans, the popular supermarket chain that is set to rise at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, have finally been filed with the Department of Buildings, according to The Real Deal. The plans were filed by Steiner NYC who are seeking to build a five-story building with the supermarket occupying the mezzanine and first floors and light manufacturing space on the remaining four floors.
All said the building will cover 250,000 square feet. A planned parking lot neighboring it will have almost 100,000 square feet of its own.
Steiner also filed plans for three neighboring buildings at 1 and 3 Flushing Avenue and 25 Navy Street last week. The Wegmans, which will stand at 21 Flushing Avenue, will replace decrepit homes on Admiral’s Row dating from the Civil War era. The supermarket is projected to open in 2017.
