Brooklyn-based artist Eric Inkala has designed a Prince-inspired purple piano, entitled Dearly Beloved, that is now open in Tompkins Square Park as part of the Sing for Hope Pianos art project. The tributary piano is doused in the late legendary artist’s signature color—a majestic purple with accents of lighter purple stripes and Prince's own love symbol emblazoned on both of its sides.
If you’re unfamiliar with Sing for Hope, it's one of NYC’s largest annual public art project, bringing 50 artistic pianos, designed by various artists, to parks and public spaces throughout the five boroughs for two weeks before permanently placing them in public schools.
Dearly Beloved can be found at 500 East 9th Street in Tompkins Square Park from now until June 19th.
