This curated “Quooklyn” two-bedroom checks all the boxes

Welcome back to The Six Digit Club, in which we take a look at a newish-to-market listing priced under $1 million, because nice things sometimes come in small packages. Send nominations to the tipline.

Ridgewood has been on the radar of the New York Times as Brooklyn’s Next Frontier (even though it’s in Queens) since at least 2012, lending it a certain credence with the paper-reading, latte-sipping crowd. The area surrounding the neighborhood and it’s border with Bushwick briefly became known as "Quooklyn" in 2014 thanks to a cringeworthy moniker bestowed upon it by the Times itself. All this goes to say that, at least according to the Times, Ridgewood is where it’s at for the trailblazing New Yorker priced out of everything west of it.

A new listing in the neighborhood at 6120 71st Avenue—71st Avenue! Yonder, pioneers!—just might be New York Times approved. The 1,000-square-foot apartment’s got it all: NYT-endorsed neighborhood, desirable open layout, trendy interiors, high-end finishes include Samsung kitchen appliances and a washer/dryer, and outdoor space. The condo is asking $695,000, which is steep for the neighborhood but relatively inexpensive for a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in other neighborhoods nodded to by the Gray Lady.
