The bit of shoreline hugging the East River between the Lower East Side and the Financial District will soon look very different, with a number of new towers (including Extell’s Lower East Side skyscraper) in various stages of progress. Construction has already begun on one of those, Fortis’s 1 Seaport, which will rise 670 feet and have just 80 apartments. YIMBY reports that foundation work on the skyscraper is underway, and shared a photo from Pizzarotti-IBC, which is working as the general contractor on the building. Nothing too exciting yet, but sales launched earlier this year, so the team behind it is surely eager to get this building up quickly.
