The tallest Lego model in the United States is a 26-foot tall tower made from over 250,000 Lego bricks and just so happens to be a replica of One World Trade Center. The tower, part of a remodeling of Legoland California’s Mini Land New York exhibit, comes surrounded with essentially everything you’d find at the actual World Trade Center. The impressive handiwork includes the twin reflecting pools that honor the individuals who lost their lives in the 9/11 terror attacks, the memorial museum, the WTC transit hub, and you can even get a birds-eye view of entire imitation Lower Manhattan courtesy of a wide-angle digital camera mounted atop their One World Trade Center, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.
It took nearly one year, eight master model builders, and more than 1,200 hours to create the replica skyscraper but the masterminds at Legoland got the exhibit completed just in time to unveil it before Independence Day weekend. As if the model itself wasn’t cool enough, the site includes moving vehicles and its very own subway system with sound effects that echo those of its real-life counterparts.
