First look at CetraRuddy's diner-replacing midtown apartment building

The 13-story building has 165 apartments over 125,000 square feet of space

Last summer it was announced that a beloved, 50-year-old Midtown West diner would shutter and make way for an apartment building, to be developed by the Moinian Group. That project is now moving forward and YIMBY has scored the first rendering for the 13-story structure.

The CetraRuddy-designed tower will rise on Eleventh Avenue between 43rd and 44th Streets and include 165 apartments, though its not clear yet whether they will be rentals or condos. Based on the fact that the residential portion of the building will span 125,000 square feet or about 750 square feet for an average sized apartment, YIMBY estimates that it’s likely going to be a rental building.

Plans also call for 26,700 square feet of retail divided between the ground floor and cellar. When the project was first announced last summer, planned amenities at the time included a rooftop terrace, a gym, and a lounge.

Just a block away from this development is Xinyuan’s gas station-replacing condo at 615 Tenth Avenue, and ODA’s boxy condos a block south on West 43rd Street.
