The mixed-use tower is getting ready to rise

Construction on the mega-project known as Essex Crossing, the former SPURA site on the Lower East Side continues to progress along with foundation work officially underway for Site One, also known as 242 Broome Street, reports YIMBY. Once completed, the building will be a 14-story mixed-use tower that will house 55 SHoP-designed condos averaging 1,475 square feet each, over 40,000 square feet of commercial space, and a bowling alley operated by Splitsville Luxury Lanes.

Aside from the building at 242 Broome Street, the mega-project will include more residence towers, retail stores, a hospital, a huge 150,000-square-foot food bazaar, and more details being released as the project progresses. Essex Crossing is being developed through the collaborative efforts of L+M Development Partners, Delancey Street Associates, Taconic, L&M Development, and BFC Partners.

A teaser site for Site One was launched in June and sales are expected to launch as soon as this fall. Construction is anticipated to wrap up in the latter part of 2017. We’ll be tracking this project as it makes headway.
