Riverdale ‘oasis’ with midcentury modern vibe wants $1.5M

The Bronx home, built in 1959, has tons of outdoor space

The listing for this four-bedroom Riverdale home calls it a "midcentury modern open-plan home and studio," though the vibe is probably better described as midcentury modern lite. It was designed by architect Julius Panero, a lifelong Riverdale resident who passed away in 2014; he built the home in 1959, and the "private oasis" is now on the market for $1.5 million.

The standout feature of the house is undoubtedly its abundance of outdoor space, including a small deck just off the kitchen, a landscaped backyard, and "an open greenhouse frame" surrounding a patio (with a built-in grill, no less). Other features include a sunken living room, floor-to-ceiling windows, a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, and a private driveway.
