New York Fashion Week is all about showcasing the latest and greatest designs from the fashion’s most renowned names but this year, it seems that they are pushing the needle even further with their interesting selection of venues. From Governors Island to the Department of Sanitation’s salt shed, see the unexpected location where NYFW fashion shows are being hosted.

Kanye West decided to unveil his Yeezy Season 4 collection outdoors at Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island. "A" for effort but the sweltering heat made it unbearable for his models to withstand. As for the park itself, it’s fairly new and was finally opened to the public in 2012 after decades of delay.

South Street Seaport’s Pier 16 became "Tommy Pier." Models used the wooden-planked pier as a catwalk to showcase the designer’s latest work. On Saturday, "Tommy Pier" will turn into a carnival complete with rides food and more that will be open to the public.
