Beautiful Prospect Lefferts Gardens townhouse with vintage millwork wants $2M

New, 2 comments

The landmarked home needs an update in some areas, but has lots of vintage charm

This three-story, almost 3,000 square-foot townhouse in Prospect Lefferts Gardens offers a quaint but dramatic contrast to The Parkline, a massive new rental building nearby that The New York Times reports is infuriating local residents. (The height ruins some views, and cast shadows over some gardens.)

This home, a mere 10 minutes away from that development, is landmarked and flaunts an extensive list of pre-war details, ranging from picture-frame walls to pocket doors. Some stunning millwork separates the living room from the rear parlor, and the sleek, hardwood floors with Mahogany inlay are truly eye-popping.

While the brokerbabble boasts that this house is the ultimate in old world allure meets modern day amenities, other than a washer/dryer (not pictured), the somewhat outdated eat-in kitchen doesn’t exactly prove the point. That said, the charming accents continue with an original claw-foot tub, Pier mirrors, bay windows, decorated mantles, two fireplaces in two bedrooms, ornate banisters, and a stained glass skylight, the latter two of which are, alas, not pictured.

The home last sold for $289,800 in 2009 (back when the Parkline was probably just a glimmer in its developer’s eye), but Prospect Lefferts Gardens’s ascendency as a desirable neighborhood means that the house is asking quite a bit more than that—it’s now listed for $2.05 million.
