$9.25M Chelsea penthouse unrecognizable after gut renovation

New, 12 comments

The penthouse was last on the market in 2013 asking $5.1M

A Chelsea penthouse is back on the market after undergoing a major renovation that renders it nearly unrecognizable. The triplex topper of 291 Seventh Avenue returned to the market today seeking $9.25 million, nearly twice as much as it was last listed for in April 2013.

While details on the renovation are scant, it appears to have included completely refiguring the floorplan to create a double-height skylit atrium and a more open-concept living area.

The current owner has quite a collection of bonsai, and although that eye candy probably won’t be staying with the apartment, here are some other highlights buyers can look forward to: dual master suites, a formal dining room that can seat up to 14, two full kitchens, a wine room, and museum-quality lighting throughout. The apartment was last on the market in April 2013 seeking $5.1 million.
