Matt Damon may be scoping out Brooklyn’s most expensive mansion

New, 9 comments

Is Matt Damon looking to make the move to Brooklyn? Maybe—the New York Post reports that the Jason Bourne star and his wife, Luciana Barroso, recently toured the 159-year-old Low Mansion on Pierrepont Street in Brooklyn Heights.

The ginormous mansion (it measures more than 17,000 square feet) has the distinction of being Brooklyn’s most expensive home for sale, currently asking a whopping $40 million. Surprisingly, that ask hasn’t budged since the palatial pad first hit the market back in February 2015, even as other ridiculously expensive places in the city have gotten price cut after price cut.

But maybe the current owners are counting on the home’s grandeur to sell it—the brokerbabble refers to the ridiculous mansion as "a brilliant and tangible testament to the un-paralleled and perhaps forever lost craftsmanship of its age" (hoo boy).

So if Damon does buy the place, what would he be getting? Though it’s currently split into eight apartments (with an "owner’s compound," apparently), it would be delivered vacant, so he could reconfigure the place however he pleases. There are a mind-boggling 15 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms throughout—enough to make a whole wing for Matt’s bestie Ben Affleck, if need be—along with 9,000 square feet of outdoor space, a roof deck, and a plethora of historic details, including the original grand staircase.
