Tribeca megamansion asking $97,500/month finally finds a renter

New, 1 comment

“Our suburb” is officially off the market

Pigs can’t fly, and hell hasn’t frozen over (as far as we know), but one of New York City’s most ridiculous townhouses finally has a taker. The Tribeca megamansion at 2 North Moore Street, also known as "our suburb" was on the rental market as recently as a couple of months ago, but a tipster passed along the news that the over-the-top home is now in contract. It was also for sale for $38 million, but that listing has disappeared, so someone truly was willing to shell out $1.17 million a year for the place.

The sprawling, six-bedroom, 11,000-square-foot mansion was built in 2005 (its original owners were the originators of the "our suburb" moniker), and sold for a mind-boggling $24 million in 2010. Four years later, its current owners listed it for an even more mind-boggling $48 million, though it got a few price chops before finding its new renter.

To recap, the megamansion is home to a plethora of ridiculous amenities: a high-speed Kone traction elevator, seven central air units, a 50-foot indoor heated swimming pool, a three-car garage, skylights, 1,500 square feet of outdoor space (including two decks with outdoor grills), "a professional Molteni Dada chef's kitchen," a fitness center, art studio, billiards room, "and the list goes on"—and on, and on.

We’ve reached out to Elliman’s Alexander team, which was representing the listing, for comment. But congratulations, mystery renter, on your extravagant new home—may you enjoy its spoils to the fullest extent of what $97,500 per month allows.
