Work is now underway on the Robert A.M. Stern Architects-designed condo building at 250 West 81st Street, YIMBY reports. The Upper West Side project was first announced in April 2016. Earlier that year, Alchemy Properties, and the Carlyle Group had partnered up to purchase a three-story commercial building at the corner of West 81st Street and Broadway (adjacent to Zabar’s).

That commercial building has since been demolished, and the new structure is now just about peeking above ground, based on the photos acquired by YIMBY. Eventually this building will stand 18-stories tall and bring 31 condos to the neighborhood.

Those condos will be incredible pricey considering the developers submitted a $226 million offering plan earlier this year. That means apartments here will average over $7 million each.

Sales are expected to launch sometime this fall. Apartments here will range in size from two to five bedrooms, and will ask from $3.7 million. Residents here will also have access to amenities like a golf simulator, a fitness center, a library/lounge, and a rooftop terrace. Additionally, the building will also feature 11,000 square feet of ground floor retail. Construction is expected to wrap up sometime in 2019.
