The 2017 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is underway, bringing giant character balloons, floats, live performances, and more to Midtown.
It is estimated that around 3.5 million people head to Manhattan each year to watch the festive event unfold as it travels down 77th Street and Central Park West, before ending in Midtown in front of Macy’s Herald Square on 34th Street.
Macy’s has put out a map of recommended places to watch, but if you’d much rather enjoy the parade from the comforts of your home and not sandwiched between a swarm of people, there are several ways in which you can do so.
It airs live on NBC beginning at 9 a.m.; last year, NBC live streamed the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time and plans on doing so again this year. Catch the parade on NBC’s website and mobile app beginning at 9 a.m. EST, or 6 a.m. PST.
Additionally, Macy’s and NBC have partnered with Verizon for the second year in a row to offer live viewing with 360-degree video on Youtube.
And of course, you can count on social media to offer a few livestreams and while we can’t guarantee you’ll catch the entire parade on your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram feed, we’re pretty sure you’ll catch at least one or two good videos.
