NYC’s first snow of the season has arrived

And it looks so pretty

After a bout of unseasonably warm temperatures, winter-like weather is finally starting to settle in. Although winter doesn’t officially begin until December 21, snowfall is pretty much expected at this point and shouldn’t be too much of a surprise for anyone.

So here we are: The first snowfall of the season has arrived in New York City. According to AccuWeather, the city is expected to receive anywhere from three to six inches of snow and a winter weather advisory will remain in place until 4 a.m. on Sunday.

If you have to venture out (which we advise against), it might be a good idea to familiarize yourself with all of the service changes happening within the NYC subway. But if you have plans to do nothing but stay within the warm confines of your home, it might not be a bad idea to get some holiday shopping done, right?

For those who do take to the streets today, a special thank you is in order. For without you all, we wouldn’t be able to swoon over all the lovely photos captured of the city’s first snowfall and posted to social media (and you know we’re a sucker for lovely snow pics). Below, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorites spotted on Instagram thus far.
