Author Ta-Nehisi Coates has found a buyer for his Prospect Lefferts Gardens townhouse. City records filed right at the end of last year show that the Between the World and Me author sold the townhouse on Lincoln Road for $2.1 million. (h/t New York Post)
The stunning brownstone first hit the market at the beginning of 2016, and Coates purchased the place (under an LLC) in May. However, once news broke that he was the buyer, Coates decided not to move after all, citing his family’s personal safety. (He penned an essay about the experience, which you can read here, for The Atlantic, where he’s a national correspondent.) The house went back on the market at the end of May, and entered contract in November.
As for the home itself, it’s located within the Prospect Lefferts Gardens Historic District, and is dripping in gorgeous details, including decorative millwork, original banisters, and (according to the LPC designation, anyway) “original wooden double-leaf doors with glass panels.” It also has all mod cons, like renovated bathrooms and a fancy kitchen.
